Yesterday I posted a blog about the brain. I hope you enjoyed reading and discovering many new facts about your amazing brain.
Our bodies are like our minds. When our bodies are tired we need to rest, and likewise when our brains are tired they need to rest too.
Tired brains make mistakes. They make more mistakes than brains that are rested well.
Usually after school, Mr Richard likes to do some exercise before he has lunch and a few hours rest.
Today he was very tired and so decided to skip his usual exercise and take lunch earlier then have some rest.
After some rest, Mr Richard usually checks his e-mails and starts some school work.
Today he decided, after resting and waking up, to go for a short evening run. He didn't run for long but it was long enough for him to get some fresh air into his lungs and to allow his mind to be free to wander.
While running, Mr Richard gets lots of ideas. His brain loves exercise as it get lots of blood to supply energy and oxygen to it and exercise also helps his brain to be more creative too.
Einstein once said, 'Imagination is more important than knowledge.'
It's very true. Our creativity or imagination is very important. If we didn't have imaginations then we wouldn't be able to ever dream of things like aeroplanes, going to the moon, or smart phones and touch screen tablets.
Our imaginations are limitless and can be amazing!
When Mr Richard exercises, he gets lots of great ideas. He loves to write poetry when he has the time, and while out running today, he came up with a little poem in his head.
Something simple:
Going for a little run
Can be so much fun
Makes you feel high
Like a bird in the sky
Brains love exercise
Helps them to be wise
Make sure every day
You go run and play!
After his short pleasant run. Mr Richard walked to the supermarket to get some mid-week shopping. On his way there, he passed 'Burger Fuel'. He noticed a large poster advertising a new burger, 'Usain Poultry'. He smiled.
That day Mr Richard had been reading with the Grade 6's about ghosts and one of the new words learnt that day, was 'to bolt'. He had mentioned Usain Bolt, the Olympic sprinter, during one of the lessons.
Seeing the poster gave him an idea for a poem:
Poor Usain Bolt
Has broke his leg
It wasn’t his fault
It was a careless man
Driving much too fast
In his 'Speedy Pizza' van!
So Mr Richard got another idea for a simple little poem! He loves to have fun and to play with words.
A question for you: Are you creative?
Mr Richard's brain is no different from yours. The question is how creative you want to be, all really depends on you. If you want to be creative, you can be.
