Dear Parents,
My name is Mr Richard and I am your child’s English teacher at Ghana International School. Teaching English is my passion and I am committed to helping each of my students grow their understanding and enjoyment of the English language. I appreciate that English is a very important subject and international language, so I emphasize the teaching of functional language in the classroom.
I strongly believe in the principle of teamwork and I ask for your co-operation to ensure that your child comes ready to learn. Your child should eat a healthy breakfast to start the day well and go to bed at an appropriate time to ensure plenty of sleep.
Your child will be told what text books and copy books to bring and should write this down in the Homework Diary as a personal reminder. The diary should also serve to record homework given. Your child should have one copy book for English.
Your child’s performance will be continuously assessed by classwork and homework assignments and also by regular tests. The continuous assessment (classwork, homework, tests and behaviour) will contribute 40% towards the term mark and the end of term exam will contribute 60%.
If your child is having difficulty in class then he/she may see me at anytime during a school break for extra help. If you need to contact me then you can send me a message or arrange to meet me after the school day ends.
My goal is to help develop your child’s attitude, knowledge and skills so that he/she is nearer to achieving his/her academic potential.
I expect students to develop good studying habits and self-discipline. Good behaviour, a healthy attitude and enthusiasm are the foundation for achieving academic success. My only expectation is that your child gives his/her best effort, strives to be better and learns from mistakes.
If your child gives time, commitment and effort to his/her studies, then he/she will be successful. It is my hope that together, we can help your child reach his/her academic potential.
Let’s work together to ensure that learning and success are synonymous.
Sincerely,
Mr Richard
