Message in a Bottle
Daddy daddy how did you meet mummy
I want to know - Please Please tell me
Well little Danny that’s a beautiful story
Just lie down comfortably and I’ll tell you
Years ago daddy worked on the crinkly blue
He was a handsome and never married man
Getting on in life and wanted to find a lovely woman
who would become his loving wife and share his life
Daddy could never find a loving woman in his country
He tried and tried patiently to find a very special lady
Alas despite tireless efforts he didn’t have any success
He became sad and desperate but never one to acquiesce
He would never give up or admit any suffering of defeat
Otherwise we would never hear patter of your little feet
Ok ok Daddy please c’mon and continue with your story
Before I fall asleep because I’m getting tired and weary
So your Daddy didn’t give up and he hatched a little plan
Daddy is ‘I can do’ Man and believes anything is possible
And nothing is impossible, so he worked his little plan
What was that plan Daddy? Well my little Danny
One day idea an entered into Daddy’s dreamy mind
He decided to write a little message and to bottle it
The very next night as he fished in the crinkly blue
Handwritten message in the green bottle - He threw
Days, weeks, months and years passed; time just flew
There were many times when Daddy wished he knew
What had become of that green bottle upon the blue
But after long time Daddy forgot that bottled message
Until a fated day incredible miracle; he’d never envisage
It was a beautiful evening and someone was along
the sandy beach strolling happily before setting sun
She stepped on something hard - It partially buried
Bending down, digging to pick it out - She hurried
Daddy’s little letter had been finally washed up ashore
After long incredible sea voyage of five years or more
Drifting to and fro - Pushed by waves blown by winds
Little green bottle came ashore in sunny coastal Spain
And a lonely senorita by the name of Lorraine Juanita
Was the one who picked up my bottle on that fated eve
What was to happen many would find it hard to believe
It was becoming very very dark so she felt it was better
To rush back home before disgorging enclosed little letter
After rushing home excitedly and heart beating rapidly
Wet cork she popped out then taking the old note out
She began to read quickly, then finally she sighed sadly
Daddy’s note had been written almost five years ago
She thought maybe it was just too late for this beau
Anyway she decided to write a little letter of reply
Not really expecting or holding any hope of a reply
Now cutting this long story short because time flies
And it’s almost your time for your little beddy-byes!
I received Jane’s letter and read it heart-touchingly.
I wrote back and we corresponded transatlantically.
This we did for more than year or so before Daddy
Agreed with Senorita Juanita to meet her eventually
We met, we married and the rest was family history
We had you so becoming your mummy and daddy
So sleepy Danny hope you enjoyed Daddy’s little story
Remember, dreams can come true if you only believe
Are willing to try hard, be patient, then you can achieve!
Now’s time for lights out, so no more play about
So say your prayers and I’ll get your teddy bears
Give daddy a big hug and little kiss and sleep snug
Night night sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!
